Introducing Iris Guitar Company
Following on from our announcement to our newsletter members recently that Iris Guitar Company would be joining our acoustic roster, we are delighted to have just received our eagerly awaited first Iris guitars!
Iris Guitar Company was founded by Adam Buchwald in 2018 as a division of Circle Strings. Adam found that working musicians weren't able to afford his Circle Strings custom built instruments, therefore in order to appeal to the working musician, Iris was born.
Combining modern technology and futuristic building techniques, Adam is able to build handmade acoustic guitars in the US at a fantastic price point. Earlier in 2019, Adam recruited master builder, sensational sunburst specialist and TNAG acoustic luthier Dale Fairbanks to join the Iris ranks, and the resulting guitars are quite remarkable.
The Iris catalogue features just two models, the OG and the CH. The OG is a model inspired by the L-00 style acoustic guitar, and features a stripped back, open pore satin finish. Our first batch features a wonderful collection of OG models.
The OG features Mahogany back and sides and a European Spruce or Mahogany top, built with Scalloped Adirondack Spruce braces. The OG has a Mahogany neck with a Katalox fingerboard. Each guitar is handbuilt in the US and includes a Gator Polyfoam case.
Even without considering that Iris offer US-made, handbuilt acoustic guitars for under £2,000, we are mightily impressed with the tonal complexity of their guitars, not to mention the exceptional build quality and wonderfully comfortable playing experience that these guitars provide.
With one Iris in stock in our Nashville showroom in addition to the five that have just arrived at our UK HQ, Brian Love takes each guitar for a spin in the videos below.
